1° Day: WELCOME TO THE ETERNAL CITY OF ROME
Rome
is the former religious, political and commercial heart of a vaste
empire. Arrival at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport and transfer by private bus
to your Hotel.
2° Day: ROME
Breakfast and meeting with
your local guide and enjoy the very best of the city’s highlights
including a tour at the Vatican Museums, culminating beneath
Michelangelo’s famous ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. The visit ends with
the visit of the magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon the
visit goes on with the spectacular Trevi Fountain, don’t forget to
throw a coin in the beautiful fountain as you are guaranteed to return
to Rome if
you do; Navona Square, Spain Steps and the Pantheon.
3° Day: ANCIENT ROME
Breakfast
and meeting with the local guide. The visit proceed to the ancient Rome
with the roman Forum and the grand ruins of Colosseum, also known as
Amphitheatrum Flavium. Afternoon free time for your own visits and
shopping.
4° Day: CAPRI EXCURSION
Breakfast and
transfer to the pier in Sorrento. Meeting with the local guide and
cruise to Capri Island for a visit. Capri is known as the 'Pearl of the
Mediterranean' and a trip to this marvelous island is definitely
worthwhile for any visitor to Italy. Tour of the Island by minibus and
free time for own visit.
5° Day: POMPEII, MATERA, ALBEROBELLO
Breakfast
and departure to Pompeii, buried in AD79 by an eruption of Mount
Vesuvius. Departure along country roads to Matera and exploration of the
extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Site “Sassi”, a labyrinth of cave
dwellings, churches, staircases and arches, hewn out of the solid rock.
Mel Gibson chose Matera as the biblical backdrop for his film “The
Passion of the Christ”. After the visit continue on to Alberobello.
6° Day: ALBEROBELLO
Alberobello
is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Its narrow street crowded with
conical, white-washed trulli. After the visit transfer to Locorotondo,
the paradise for wine-lovers, for a tasting of red wine and local
products.
7° Day: ARRIVAL IN SICILY
Breakfast and travel to the very toe of Italy and board your ferry bound for Sicily.
8° Day: TAORMINA AND SYRACUSE
Breakfast
and in Taormina meet with your local guide for a visit to the Greek
Theater, graced with the most spectacular of backdrops. Take leisure
stroll along the Corso Umberto I, the most important shopping street in
Taormina. The visit continues to Syracuse's Paradise Quarry and
its
unusual "Ear of Dionysius", a grotto in the shape of an earlobe. Next
door stands the superb Greek Theatre, carved out of solid rock, one of
the largest of the ancient world.
9° Day: AGRIGENTO AND ON TO PALERMO
Breakfast
and journey along the southern coast of the island, to Agrigento. With
local guide you will explore the Valley of the Temples, Sicily’s finest
Greek sanctuary. Continue to the Sicilian capital of Palermo.
10° Day: PICTURESQUE PALERMO
In
the morning there is the option to explore the bustling Ballaro market,
before starting the guided tour. Visit Palermo Cathedral, with a
mixture of styles, having been altered many times over the years. In
Monreale visit the finely decorated cathedral, its magnificent gold
mosaics are masterpiece of Arab-Norman art. Return to Palermo and enjoy
free time.
11° Day: EXPLORING ERICE AND TRAPANI
Wind
your way up to the charming hilltop walled town of Erice. Walk through
the labyrinth of quiet alleyways, past medieval churches and enjoy sea
view. The excursion goes on to Trapany where you will visit a local farm
for a wine tasting with local products. Back to Palermo.
12° Day: CEFALU
Breakfast
and departure to the quaint fishing town of Cefalu. The town’s imposing
cathedral was erected to fulfil a vow made by the Norman King Roger II.
Stroll down to the medieval stone fountain and seek out the Gothic arch
of the Porta Marina. Free time and back to Palermo.
13° Day: ARRIVERDERCI
Breakfast and free time before the pick up to go to the airport. ARRIVEDERCI Bella Italia.
